Guess what? There’s a pretty good chance you aren’t living your life to its fullest potential. We ignore our emotions, so many of us live exhausted and barely get through the day. Feeling fulfilled is not on the menu. It might seem daunting at first but when you start taking steps to live a happy life, you will notice an immediate positive shift towards reaching your goals.
It’s a harsh reality that many get stuck in the mud of life, but you can live a happy life!
If you look in the mirror everyday and wonder where the hours and years went, you can change that perception in a matter of minutes. There are so many ways to affect and affect your life on a day-to-day basis. Opening your heart to change and positivity is the first step. You can live your dream life.
Ready to start taking steps towards a happy life and:
- Structure your life for success
- Create healthy habits for you and your family
- Takeoactive actions for lasting change
Day 1. Nurse Your Dreams
What is there to be afraid of? Do you want to be a photographer, and everyone gives you negative feedback? Don’t let other people’s doubts infiltrate your head.
Find your success in unique ways when you are considering a dream. As a photographer, you can upload photos to stock sites and possibly get paid per image download. Is that 100% glamorous? No, but are you a photographer? Damn right you are. You don’t have to give up anything to test your dream. Nothing is holding you back, don’t let your present situation intimidate you, charge ahead. If you want it, it’s right there.
- Get a certificate
- Go back to school
- Start to run again
- Increase your salary
- Spend more time with family
Dreams take time to foster, be proud of yourself for taking the first step. Nothing happens in a day, your goals are relative and every effort is worth praise. Sure, you could have accomplished some things sooner in your life, but don’t feel regret! What’s important is that you are doing it today and not waiting till tomorrow.
My ultimate dream was to start a blog and earn a living at home doing what I love. If you share this goal, use my helpful guide to get set up with WordPress and Bluehost Start Your Blog with Bluehost.
Day 2. Give Someone a Gift
Think of something that you are thankful for. Make an effort to do something nice for the bearer of that gift. Did your mom help pay for college? Maybe your dad taught you how to fix a car? Did your best friend teach you Korean? We are all positively affected by people daily. Reach out in a subtle way to let someone know you care. Go ahead and make their day. When you spread a happy life you live a happy life.
- Handmade present
- Flowers
- Donuts for the office
- Send a card
- Gift card
- Office plant
You are face to face with your officemates mates every day, not to mention you have to live with your family the rest of your life. Show kindness, It becomes infectious. At first, you might be the only one sending out gifts, but soon you will see the rest of your friends taking part.
Day 3. Calisthenics
Use your body outside of the gym. Most of us have sitting jobs, and we are getting weaker by the day. I had a huge wake-up call when a 5-mile walk caused the balls of my hip joints to grind against the socket. I wasn’t moving enough and if you aren’t moderately active on a day-to-day basis, this will be your future. Being 27 at the time, something had to change. I’m not a doctor, but these exercises helped me to become more limber, and they got my heart rate up just enough in the morning for a great burst of energy.
- 25 Pushups
- 25 Jumping jacks
- 50 Crunches
- 30 standing side crunches each side
You will feel refreshed and invigorated when you complete these simple exercises. Top it off with a big glass of water in the morning, water is said to be more ‘awakening’ to our body and organs than coffee.
Day 4. Take Time to Plan Outfits
Take some time and pick out all your outfits for the week ahead of you. Think of everything you’ll need, from underwear, jewelry and socks. Once this is done, the release from the mental burden will allow you to clear your mind of all the clutter.
- Flats with gaucho pants, t-shirt tucked in, wide belt and a scarf
- Flats with slacks, silky long blouse, bracelets, and necklace
- Heels with a pencil skirt, blouse, and chunky necklace
- Flats, tights, a dress, a cardigan with a brooch and bracelets
- Flats, jeans layered sweater, and button down
Being creative with your outfit selections brings you a new perspective on what matches and what odd color combinations can produce. If you always wear a certain blouse with a skirt, try changing it up. There are thousands of clothing options in our closet; we just have to be a bit creative. Planning your outfits ahead of time will give you the ability to do that.
Day 5. Meditate to Live a Happy Life
It’s important to realize that the world is always good as well as bad. It’s your memories, your attitude and your resilience that determine whether it’s a good life, not just a bad day. We all think no one gives or cares enough. That feeling probably stems from the self-awareness that you’ve given so much, and when you do get back, you feel like it was an earned reward. Life isn’t that simple.
- Clear a space in your home for serenity
- Find an alarm and set it for 10 minutes to begin with
- Get comfortable and clear your mind
- Breathe in and out and begin to count your exhales
- Concentrate on your breathing
A sense of fulfillment and calm will wash over you after you meditate. The more you practice, the longer the effects last.
Day 6. Social Media Reboot
Clean out all the junk from your social media. It’s not a very smart idea to have pictures of your partying days online. Employers and co-workers can seek to incriminate. Keep your public persona squeaky clean.
- Remove party pictures
- Pictures of Ex’s
- If it’s legal where you are, that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily legal everywhere else.
Life needs to be about moving forward and not looking back. This will help you feel lighter and refreshed.
Day 7: Develop a New Routine
When you do something for the first time, it feels good; the third time feels a little old, but after 7 times, it becomes a habit. What kind of habits could you start for a better tomorrow?
- Wash and hydrate your skin EVERY night. Splurge on a great moisturizer.
- Eat breakfast every morning.
- Take a daily vitamin.
- Track your daily expenses.
- Start the morning with a glass of water before your coffee.
Day 8. Rethink Your Beauty
Beauty doesn’t have to be expensive. Salon trips should only be reserved for special occasions. The stress of that kind of maintenance just never appealed to me. Instead, I took steps to keep up my health, cut out chemicals, and remain free from the stress of beauty appointments. For even more easy beauty tips check out Flawless Beauty in 6 Steps.
- Go Back to your natural hair color
- Opt for a long-lasting shellac French manicure (nail bed growth doesn’t have to be a problem).
- Highlight your eyes and use less makeup on the rest of your face
- Buy fake toenails and apply them yourself, they can stay on for months
- Stop using hairspray. It damages your hair and can clog pores around your hairline
- Drink green tea daily
- Use moisturizer as often as possible
Day 9. Start to Build a Social Media Following
If you aspire to be your boss, you are going to need traffic of some kind, be it foot traffic or website traffic. Start to help yourself now by getting active on Pinterest. I know that the idea of putting yourself out there, on Facebook, can seem intimidating. Pinterest offers anonymity.
You can start to build and gain trust right now, which will equate to followers who will support your business later. Pinterest, if you nurture it correctly, allows you to create your advertisement pool.
Do you want to post an advertisement (pin) to 10 or 1,000 people? If you begin to cultivate your following now, then you’ll be ahead of the game when you open your store and you’ll easily be able to cater to your consumers.
I am a very active pinner and I would love to help get you started!

If you are new to Pinterest and have no idea what to pin about… here are some board ideas that have been successful in my account. Simply ‘Create a New Board’ and add pins.

- Decorating Tips
- Treats for Kids
- Desserts and Sweet Stuff
- Career Outfits
- My Style Outfits
- DIY
- Side Hustle Ideas
- Mom Help
- How to Start a Blog

You will run into these types of pins often on Pinterest. Start repinning pins that you think others will find interesting, and of course that you find valuable. The more you pin, the faster your following will grow. Just be sure to space out your pins so that you don’t bombard your follower feeds all at once.

Day 10. Research a Side Hustle
Is there something in your life that you love doing? Is there a way you could make money from those endeavors? With all the technology available online, it’s simple to sell your products anywhere in the world.
The beauty of setting something up online is that it works for you even when you aren’t physically working on it. There’s no need to ‘man the storefront 24/7’ so to speak. Use this to your advantage. Sites like etsy, ebay, redbubble, and shopify make it really simple to use their interfaces to get your products in front of customers.
- Printables
- Make Jewelry
- Consulting
- Write an Ebook
- Holiday presents
- Sell clothes you don’t wear
- Greeting Cards
- Start freelancing
- Create a blog and monetize it
- Become a virtual assistant
- Thrift for certain luxury brands and sell
There’s nothing stopping you from snapping a few pictures and putting them online. It literally takes 10 minutes to start a store on Etsy, what have you want to sell?
Day 11. To Really Live a Happy Life You Need to Stop Procrastinating
Pick something that you have been majorly procrastinating about and just do it. I am the queen of procrastination, but when a huge mental list of things to do builds up, it doesn’t allow our minds to focus. That sneaking thought, that stomach drops when you still have to deal with something…. it’s all avoidable by action. Just deal with it today and you will be thankful, and so relieved it’s accomplished.
- Call the cable company
- Check your bank account statements
- Sign up for a class
- Finish your paperwork
- Send out a letter
- Cancel a membership
- Clean your bathroom
- Re-organize your pantry
- Update your résumé
- Start a blog
When we don’t complete tasks, we create mental anguish for ourselves and we don’t even realize it. Clear yourself of these mental burdens by getting them out of the way so that you can focus on what’s important in your life.
