The healthiest of intentions can’t always win against a formidable… cupcake. I get it. Perhaps you have better willpower than I do, but I’m eating the cupcake. Having healthy snacks and alternatives around will help save you and your waistline.
Healthy snacks are here to save you from temptation.
Offices are literally the definition of diet sabotage. You’re stuck in one place, probably crazy, bored and completing a semi-monotonous task. Sound right? Eating during these times seems natural. It’s even quite comforting. Unfortunately, you could be inadvertently doing your body a lot of harm to your waist.
A well-rounded lifestyle comes from healthy choices and moderation on a day-to-day basis. Here is a handy list of snacks to enjoy daily so that when that random cupcake or basket of office candy floats by you, you can indulge knowing that you make good choices daily.
When you’re ready to get away from the office for good, a blog or website is a great way to start earning money from home. Check out my post Start a Profitable Blog Today for more details.
Raw Bits
- Carrots and Celery – hummus, nut butter or guacamole.
- Almonds – Try them slivered for extra-long munch time.
- Apples with peanut butter or splurge with Nutella – Blanche apples in honey water or lemon water to ward of discoloration.
- Sliced Cucumber and feta.
- Snap Peas
- Avocado – With a little salt, pepper, and lime, this is a great protein-packed snack.
- Kiwi Fruit or Banana.
- Pistachios or Sunflower seeds – Buy in the shell to avoid overeating.
Packaged healthy snacks
- Pretzels and Cream Cheese.
- Asian Rice Mix – Crunchy and flavorful. Look for it in the bulk bins.
- Granola Bars – Go for nut rich and avoid yogurt dipped, that’s just sugar.
- Frozen Blueberries – With freezer access, frozen blueberries taste just like mini grape popsicles.
- Roasted Seaweed – My favorite roasted seaweed is from Jayone. It’s 100% natural and non-gmo. 24 packs for under $10.00? Yes.
Vegetable chips are an option, but much less healthy than you would imagine. I try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible. Your body will thank you if you start to eat more whole foods.
For any type of nuts, candy, grains etc shop the bulk bins! You’ll be shocked by how much more you get for your money.
Microwaved Healthy Snacks
- Edamame – Try with lemon and sea salt.
- Pretzel Bites – Get them from The Dollar Store. Check out the rest of the freezer section while you’re there. You might just be surprised by their options!
- Oatmeal – Use powdered office creamer and water for more flavor depth and creaminess.
- Quesadilla – Shredded cheese + wheat tortilla, bring hot sauce for a spicy snack.
- Omelet – Crack an egg, add veggies or cheese to a mason jar, shake and microwave till fluffy
- Air-popped Popcorn – Silicon Poppers work AMAZING! Fluffy kernels every time and no chemicals from the terrible bagged variety. Check out my favorite popper here.
- Quick Grits – Add sugar and cinnamon for sweet or cheese and spice for savory
- Steamed carrots with cinnamon and honey.
Easy to Prep at Home
- Jicama with Lime and Cayenne – Season as desired
- Homemade Granola – Nuts, seeds, chocolate, candy, fruits, raisins, craisins… you have options
- Roasted Garbanzo Beans – A ranch packet is my go-to seasoning.
- Mozzarella and Tomatoes – drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze
- Marinated Mushrooms/ Zucchini/ Tomatoes
- Fresh Coconut – Bring the soft inner meat
- Pesto Pasta Salad
- Spiced Nuts – Make them in the crock-pot
- Greek Salad – Chop cucumber, tomato and onion
- Baked Tofu Squares – Brush with teriyaki or soy and bake at 400 degrees till crispy

Keto-Friendly / Low Carb ~Be mindful of salt content~
- Beef Jerky or Beef Sticks- Grass-fed beef options are always the best. This favorite is also nitrate, and sugar free.
- Pickles
- String cheese
- Pork rinds
- In-shell nuts – Avoid peanuts due to carb/sugar content
- Guacamole with veggies
- Parmesan Crisps– These are absolutely delicious. Most commonly used for salad garnish, but at 0 carbs and no sugar, they are perfect snacks.
- Turkey Pepperoni – Microwave for 30 seconds to get crispy disks.
- Bone broth or soup broth from a bouillon
Try These “Unwich” Combos:
- Turkey and cheddar Roll-Ups – Beloved by kids and adults
- Pastrami, Swiss and Sauerkraut – ala Reuben if you add a squirt of 1000 Island dressing
- Roast Beef and Cheddar
- Ham and American – a classic combination
- Salami and Mozzarella – Pop some olives and you’re eating like an Italian! Forgettaboutit
- Roast Beef and Provolone – Essence of Cheesesteak anyone?
- Chicken slices and Feta – Greek… Opa!
- Turkey, Provolone and Guacamole – Surf’s Up. This creamy combo is my favorite.
- Peppered Roast Beef and Blue Cheese Crumbles – Great take on the classic steak sandwich
- Ham wrapped Babybel Cheese – Look for a thicker cut ham
- Sharp Cheddar and Salami – Just yes.
- Roast Beef, American Cheese – A nod to the more traditional Philly. Add some peppers for crunch.
- Turkey, Brie – Oui Oui!
- Ham, Swiss and pickles – Cuban
- Goat Cheese and Avocado – Vegetarian
Add lettuce, peppers, avocado, tomatoes, etc, or any condiments your individual diet allows or you desire. Romaine stalks are great as lettuce boats too.
Take it To Go
People love to hate mason jars but any sort of to-go sauce, dressing or coffee creamer is perfect for those little industrial suckers. No leaks! Simply rinse out an old pasta or jelly jam container. I always add them to my amazon order.
My favorite: bring to work healthy snack is carrots with cinnamon and honey. You can bring a bag of frozen sliced carrots, microwave for around 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, cinnamon, and honey. It’s tasty and reminiscent of the well-loved Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole.
As a side note, be aware of your own personality flaws. Even if something is healthier, eating a whole bag isn’t going to be good for you. If this is a typical habit make sure and portion out your new goodies ahead of time.

I am a dedicated snacker always looking for healthy options! Thank you so much for putting this together!
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Life seems a little easier with snacks on hand that is for sure. 🙂
Oh my gosh, I FORGOT about pretzels with cream cheese. I work from home, but I still struggle with snacks/food in general during the work day. This was a great post!
Thank you! Yes I am just now starting to work full time from home again. I think that a standing desk will definitely assist me with my posture and overall health. It’s so much easier to bounce around between snacks that way!
