How We Make $10,000 a Month in Blog Income With Only 10,000 Monthly Visitors

Making $10,000 a month online is a dream for many people! It’s a milestone that new bloggers aspire to reach. It’s also the online blog income that many people consider to be ‘successful’. Maybe it’s because when you hit ‘5-figures’ a month that’s more than 6-figures a year? Or maybe it’s just because it’s a nice round number? Either way, it’s enough to pay your bills, and enough to plan a vacation! 

When you are making $10,000 per month from a blog, you can spend more time with your family. You don’t have to commute to an office and deal with a demanding boss. You can vacation when you want to and even just stay in bed all day when you feel under the weather. Escaping the 9-5 grind of the day job is possible!

Even better, a blogging business can become passive income! This means that you can do less and less work and continue to make money 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Any extra work that you do on your blog is to grow it and to increase your income.

How great is that!? We think that it’s one of the best businesses to start!

My wife and I use to say to each other how great it would be just to make an extra $1,000 per month from blogging. We never thought that just a year or so later we would be regularly making $10,000 – $15,000 from our blogs! It’s pretty unbelievable – but it was very hard work.

In this article, I will show you how we have been able to increase our blog income without having hundreds of thousands of subscribers. We do NOT even have any of the following:

• We don’t have an email list.
• Our sites have Domain Authorities of less than 30.
• We don’t have our own products to sell.
• Currently, we only make about $300 a month from on-page ads.
• We don’t have more than about 10,000 visitors per month to our main blog.

Below is an overview of how we make our blogging income, and what we did to increase our earnings to over $10,000 per month.

Affiliate Marketing Income

Our secret? Our website income is almost entirely from affiliate marketing (earning a commission when a visitor purchases a product through a special link on our sites). We focus on affiliate marketing with an emphasis on ‘high ticket’ items where we get paid $300 to $2,000 commission per sale.

Why market higher priced products?

Many people think that it is much harder to sell an expensive product than a cheap one – but with the right sales funnel and marketing tactics, it can be much easier than you might think.

Some bloggers will tell you that it is easier to sell low-cost affiliate products – but the reality is that most people are scared to try to sell high priced products because they don’t believe that people will buy them. I was surprised to find that people will spend $5,000 on a stock trading educational course – but they do!

The bottom line is that there are a lot of people out there that will willingly spend $1k, $2k, $5k or even $10k+ on educational courses that will help them to make more money.

How we Find High Priced Educational Products to Promote

The key is to leverage other company’s resources and expertise. To sell expensive products, you need to have a really great sales funnel – you can try to do this yourself with an email list, or you can just find great products that already have amazing sales funnels. We choose companies and products to promote that have the following criteria:

• A superb, high quality and popular product. This is our first priority.
• A free webinar that provides massive value AND requires email signup.
• Commissions of $300 to $2000+ or more per sale. Preferably more!
• We don’t do the hard work – the company follows up with special deals after the free webinar via email and does all the heavy lifting for us!
• Preferably the company has multiple products, maximizing the possibility of a sale.
• The company runs amazing discount sales to their email list every few months.

These are the main criteria that we look for in a product that we would consider promoting as an affiliate. We also make sure it is something that we know about, have used or are likely to use in the future. For us, this usually means courses related to stock trading, real estate investing or work-at-home educational products.

What is that Criteria?

First, the product must be exceptionally popular. We contact the company and ask how many products they sell or what their annual revenue is. Next, we look for annual revenue of a few million dollars – this shows us that the product is popular and likely to be of high quality.

We work on the idea that we might be able to increase a company’s revenue by a few percent. If they only make $10,000 a year, it will be unlikely that promoting the product will lead to significant revenue for us. But if they make $5 Million per year, then we might be able to make $10,000 to $100,000 per year if we promote the product effectively.

How We Promote a High Ticket Product

We will often ask for a trial of the product and write-up a review of it. Another tactic that has worked well for us is to interview successful students if it is a course. An informative interview post combined with a superb freebie and follow-up email marketing by the company ensures the highest chance of success!

Here is an example of a review post that we wrote for an expensive stock trading course (Option Profit Nexus costs $5,000).

I admit it, the post is not that great. The writing could be improved. But the post has generated thousands of dollars of revenue for us. We were able to get free access to the Options Profit Nexus course and write-up a review about it. We try to give as much value to the reader as possible to explain how good the product is. If they decide to sign up for the fantastic free webinar, we will get credit for any purchase that they make within the next year.

Finding Hungry Buyers

Selling expensive products does require significant attention testing to different audiences to see which one converts the best. We have found that Twitter is a great platform for promoting our expensive stock trading products, but it is useless for trying to sell work-at-home business ideas (like this proofreading course).

We test many different high commission products. Once we find one that converts well, we focus on building an income stream from selling that product. This usually means writing more articles etc. Once we are earning a few thousand dollars a month passively from the product, we move on to testing the next one! We rinse and repeat, continuing to build our income streams from the affiliate products to increase blog income.

Conclusions

We hope that this article has inspired you to try promoting some high ticket affiliate products. Many people are competing for $20 commissions, but it is not as hard as you might think to make $1,000 – $10,000 commissions! If you have the right traffic to your website, you can make $10,000+ with just a few sales per month. That’s an immediate increase to your blog income.

Even with a tiny website and the right strategy, it is possible to wake up to thousands of dollars of sales overnight!
