I’ve been recruiting for 11 years and I can’t wait to share all my recruiter side hustle secrets. You might think “and… why would you share all your money-making secrets?” I’ll tell you exactly why; there is enough opportunity to go around for EVERYONE! A change of career or a recruiter side hustle is a great way to earn money for anyone.
Recruiting will never go out of style, it’s an essential part of every business and there is so much money to be made through recruiting. It doesn’t matter if you are working as a freelance recruiter or working for a corporation, the skills for success are equally the same.
Recruiting is a very positive work experience. Every time you contact someone, they are grateful and appreciative that you are reaching out to them. It doesn’t matter what the job is or the pay scale; you can be the answer to someone’s prayer. It feels really good to offer hope and employment. The right candidate matched with the right job is very rewarding. You will feel uplifted day in day out.
How do I make money as a recruiter?
There are several ways to make money, all of which you control.
Depending on the job you accept, a recruiter could be paid, hourly, salary, commission, a base + commission, or freelance.
You can earn upwards of $55 an hour as an hourly contract recruiter. I’ll teach you all about it during recruitment training in Recruiting Skills Made Simple
The more efficiently you work, determines how hard you work. I’ve perfected my own technique and I disclose all my secrets in my course: Recruiting Skills Made Simple.
Here are some of the positions I’m working on and the bounty payout figures.
A recruiter’s job is to attract talent to open jobs. Recruitment training will help you do that quickly.
When a company decides that they need a new employee, the talent acquisition team goes to work. A job scope, pay, and responsibilities are put together and provided to a recruiter.
Using that basic information, the recruiter finds a reputable job board, creates a job advertisement and makes the job posting available to the public.
When someone sees the job post and applies, they then become an applicant. As a recruiter, you will reach out to qualified applicants for a phone interview.
If you think the applicant is a good fit, you will advance them to the next step. This could be a digital interview or a face to face interview with a hiring manager. When the applicant gets hired, you receive accolades or you get a bounty, depending on your pay structure.

Recruiters work from wherever they want
A lot of recruiters are working remotely, for themselves as freelancers or as a side hustle to earn extra money through crowdsourcing bounties. Depending on the type of employment you choose, you may never have to go into an office.
All that is necessary is an internet connection. You can recruit from anywhere in the world as long as you have the ability to speak with a candidate.
Your computer is your gateway to freedom.
From where do you picture yourself recruiting? Is it in the comfort of your own home? Or could it be poolside? Personally, for me, I enjoy the freedom. I know that I can work from wherever I want and be successful. Cutting ties with a negative boss who didn’t believe in my success was the best decision I ever made.
Wouldn’t it be amazing to have choices? Through recruiting, these are options that you will have for the duration of your career.
Recruiters build relationships
Recruiters build relationships with candidates which in turn leads to trust, referrals, and quality hires. When you treat your candidates well, they will return the favor. Once they have a solid job offer in hand, they’ll start to think about helping their friends too.
As a recruiter, you can tap in easily by just asking for referrals. Referrals are an easy way to elevate your recruiting game and get even more people hired.
You will also build relationships with your hiring managers. When you build a relationship with your hiring manager, you will have more insight as to what the role requires. This gives you a great advantage when screening candidates.
Recruiters help companies build positive work environments
As a recruiter, you are shaping the companies you work for. If you speak with a handful of people that aren’t great prospective employees and you attempt to get them a job anyways, that directly impacts the company you are recruiting for.
That’s powerful! You are hand-selecting your colleagues and coworkers. More importantly, you are hand-selecting people that match the company’s mission.
With a great workforce, a company has no limits. You, as a recruiter, can ride your success right to the top.
Recruiters can earn as much money as they want
You have options when it comes to recruiting. That extends to how much money you want to make.
If you’re working as a freelancer or on a commission scale, the work you do directly impacts your paycheck. This means that every minute you work correlates to how much you earn. The more efficient you are at recruiting, the more you make per hour.
Spend 2 hours daily at your desk? 8 hours? 10 hours? When you’re on an hourly salary you have no leeway of how much you make. It doesn’t matter how hard you work, how positively you influence the workplace, you will continue to make the same salary until you get a raise.
As a recruiter, you can immediately start earning money and build a pipeline for future candidate submissions. Do the hard work once and let the candidates roll in.
Personally, I like to break up my day and do all the heavy lifting in the morning. In Recruiting Skills Made Simple I give you multiple options and techniques to enable your best, most efficient work.
